Race Categories & Distances:

Men     24km

Women 12km

Junior Men (J19)12km (Minimum age 14)

Junior Women (J19)12km (Minimum age 14)

Adult Short Coarse (Any Age) 6km

Junior Short Coarse (Minimum Age 12) 6km

 Categories:     

 The organisors will acknowledge age categories (GM,SM, M) within the Men’s and Women’s categories. By distinguishing the results and recognising performance at the prize giving. (There must be a minimum of 5 paddlers in a specific category for it to be acknowledged)

  • The Major prize of the ticket to Tahiti will be the first across the line. In the Following categories: Men (24km), Women (12km), Junior Men (J19 -12km), and Junior Women (J19 12km).
    Note Paddlers must be at least 16 years of age (Turning 16 in 2017) to be eligible to win the Junior Men and Junior Women Ticket to Tahiti. 
    Va’a/Waka

  • No Va’a/Waka shall be permitted to have a Rudder
  • Va’a/Waka will not be weighed

 What’s the Cost?
If you enter before the closing date (2nd March midnight)
$60 Women 12km, Junior 12km , Men 24km (Includes race entry, race shirt,& chance to win a Trip to Tahiti)
$40 Short Courses (Women, Men, Junior) (Includes race entry and race shirt) 

We will not accept entries on the day!

You can pay by credit card or We will accept Cash on the day or you can direct credit our bank account. Please ensure you have given clear reference as to who you are so that we dont charge you twice.         There is a $3.50 fee for Credit card payments

SAFETY:

All Va’a/Waka must complete the following safety check:

  •  Must carry an adequate bailer 
  • Spray Skirts are optional but recommended
  • Life Jacket
  • Spare Paddle

There will be a Safety Check, Please see the Volunteers is Hi-Vis Vests to have your safety Check completed.

Our safety commitment to you: We will have at least 5 safety vessels on the water for every race. These safety vessels will cover the course. If you are in trouble or need assistance please raise your paddle straight up in the air.

Waiver:

All competitors must complete the Personal Waiver form prior to racing. All paddlers under the age of 18 must have their waiver form signed by a parent or guardian.

 Rules of Racing:

·All paddlers must check in at registration before race briefing starts.

All Paddlers must wear the Official race shirt, that they will be given at registration.

·The start of the race will be a siren

·Drafting is allowed.

·Failure to comply with the directions of any Safety Official will result in immediate disqualification.

·Alcohol/Intoxication – any competitor found to be intoxicated or have heavy smelling alcohol on their breath will be asked to stand-down. 

 The organisors reserve the right o alter the course for safety at anytime
